Burlesque Inspired Workouts
by Burlesque.com
?Burlesque inspired workouts are as exciting, sensual, and expressive as the history of burlesque itself.
Burlesque began as a way to challenge the status quo, to change the old ways of looking at things, and to dare to disrupt the establishment with a new form of entertainment. Burlesque began entertaining audiences beginning in the 1840’s with comic plays, music inspired dance, and a proud display of uninhibited performance art.
This bold, exciting, and humorous entertainment continued into the Twentieth century and still maintains artistic roots in society today. The pioneers of Burlesque, such as Gypsy Rose Lee, entertained with confidence, strength, and sex appeal.
Today, dancing forms such as Zumba, dance classes, and pole dancing offer similar expressions with swaying hip movements, provocative and inspiring music, strength moves, and a platform with which to perform without reservation or intimidation. Burlesque was performed mostly in cabarets, and comedy clubs, and almost always invoked laughter, good-times, and pure excitement and pleasure from the audience.
The strip tease began in burlesque as part of a pole dancing sequence, which showcased the strength and agility of the dancers. Poles themselves came directly from the circus tents and into the bars and cabaret theaters where burlesque was being performed. The poles originated in China as a way to build and demonstrate strength as well as celebrate performance. Burlesque.comes form the Latin word “burra” which means, “to send up”. Zumba is Latin inspired and also incorporates Latin dance styles and moves that evoke emotion, expression, and sensuality, much like burlesque itself.
Burlesque inspired workouts are a fabulous way to promote self-expression, humor, and sensuality and can be accomplished through Zumba, genres of dance, and pole dancing.
