Darling says that she only found out that she was related to the Duchess several days prior to the April 2011 wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton. Though the relationship was not known to either the Duchess or to the Dancer, the press found it newsworthy.
Darling says that she hasn't got any interest in pursuing a meeting with Middleton. She claims that such a meeting would likely be quite awkward, but she admits that, "I’m sure we would find something to laugh about in it all.” Despite having no active desire to meet her royal cousin, she has still received some negative press in relation to the news.
She said, in response to these news mentions, "I try not to take the negative attention as a personal attack, I try not to pay attention. I try not try read the press too much, so I don’t know what they’re saying about me."
Darling is Middleton's cousin once removed, and just as Darling hasn't gone out of her way to push for a meeting with Middleton, the Duchess has not attempted to reach Darling. When asked if Prince Harry might have a chance with her since he is still single and she's got an obvious royal connection, Darling was politely dismissive.
Darling said that she prefers her men to be "rough around the edges," and that Prince Harry's Eton schooling are far too "prestigious." Besides that, Darling said further, she's already happily taken.
